JENNINGS — Investigators were digging Monday at a rural site for the bodies of two Oklahoma City women and a girl who have been missing since 1992.
Wendy Camp, 23; her daughter, Cynthia Britto, 6; and Camp's sister-in-law, Lisa Renee Kregear, 22, have been missing since May 29, 1992.
“We're extremely hopeful,” Camp's sister, Aisha Hashmi, said.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been working on the cold case.
OSBI agents were at a site Monday between Jennings and Terlton in northeast Oklahoma because of a lead in the case, OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said.
“They've started digging,” she said Monday afternoon.
Also at the site were other law enforcement and medical examiner's office officials and University of Oklahoma archaeology students, Brown said.
The OSBI spokeswoman confirmed only that the dig was a search for clues.
She would not say if the diggers were looking for bodies.
Hashmi, who lives in Grand Prairie, Texas, traveled to Oklahoma because of the lead.
“They said it might not be until tomorrow,” she said Monday afternoon.
