A suspected gang member with a history of driving infractions was led away from court Thursday under heavy guard, after a judge reduced his bail on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident that killed a pedestrian.
Lorenso Levario Ibanez, 22, of Oklahoma City, also is charged in Oklahoma County District Court with causing an accident while driving without a valid driver's license.
Security inside and outside the courtroom of District Judge Ray C. Elliott was increased after Ibanez reportedly received death threats, law enforcement sources told The Oklahoman.
Prosecutors allege Ibanez was driving on a suspended license when he struck John Michael Amos about 1 a.m.
