STILLWATER — A Stillwater man has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter in the October, 2012 beating death of another Stillwater man.
A local newspaper reports that 28-year-old Christopher Dawes was sentenced to 20 years in prison after entering the plea Monday.
Dawes was originally charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of 32-year-old Jeremy Sutherland.
Defense attorney Royce Hobbs argued that the crime was one of passion.
