CHICKASHA — A judge has ruled that there is enough evidence for a Grady County man charged with first-degree murder to stand trial in the shooting death of the daughter of a Norman deputy police chief.
Special Judge Timothy Brauer set a March 13 arraignment for Steven Thompson after hearing testimony during a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
A local newspaper reports Thompson faces a first-degree murder charge in the 2013 death of Sara Maisano, who was the daughter of Norman Deputy Police Chief Jim Maisano.
Thompson also faces an assault and battery charge after allegedly beating one of Maisano’s friends.
Three witnesses testified during the hearing, including a friend of Maisano’s who testified that Thompson struck her repeatedly before he hit Maisano at a home in the town of Amber.
