A Coolidge Elementary School fourth-grader was arrested Friday afternoon after teachers found an unloaded handgun in his backpack, police said.
The 11-year-old boy was arrested on complaints of possession of a firearm on school campus, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and possession of a knife on school campus.
“Nobody was injured and the gun was not loaded,” Oklahoma City Public Schools spokeswoman Tierney Tinnin said.
