ALBQUERQUE, N.M. — June sentencings are set in federal court in Albuquerque for an Arizona inmate and two co-defendants in the killings of an Oklahoma couple during a New Mexico carjacking in 2010.
U.S. District Judith Herrera on June 3 will sentence John McCluskey on June 3 in the 2010 killings of Gary and Linda Haas of Tecumseh.
McCluskey faces an automatic life sentence because a jury couldn’t unanimously agree on a possible death sentence, but a local newspaper reports reports that a hearing is required so the victims’ families may speak.
Herrera on June 2 will sentence both Tracy Allen Province, who escaped with McCluskey from a prison in Kingman, Arizona, and Casslyn Mae Welch, McCluskey’s cousin and girlfriend.
