Two Oklahoma County jail inmates may have been exposed to the poisonous ricin during a burglary Monday, authorities said.
Ramon Stephens, 32, and Kevin Phillips, 34, were arrested in connection with a burglary of the home of Preston Rhoads, who is accused of trying to poison his girlfriend with ricin.
Jail staff were made aware of the incident and isolated the two inmates when they were brought to the Oklahoma County jail Monday.
The Oklahoma County sheriff’s office has strict guidelines and procedures for dealing with possible bio-hazard threats at the jail, according to a news release.
