STILLWATER — Stillwater-area police and federal agencies are banding together to prevent underage drinking in the community.
With consequences such as homicide, suicide, traumatic injury, car wrecks and alcohol poisoning, underage drinking costs Oklahomans about $830 million each year, said Gina Pratt, a senior agent with the Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission.
During a news conference Thursday afternoon at Oklahoma State University, Pratt said alcohol is the most-abused substance in the state, and Oklahoma is one of the worst offenders of underage drinking.
“We want to stop the problem before it gets any worse and it goes further,” she said.
