A judge sentenced a Warr Acres man Tuesday to 160 years in prison as punishment for his conviction on 70 counts of child sexual abuse.
Antonio Herman Cervantes Jr., 37, faced up to 2,800 years in prison — or 40 years per count — after a jury convicted him in November.
But Oklahoma County District Judge Kenneth C. Watson ran some of the sentences consecutively and some concurrently, according to the severity of the crimes.
Prosecutors also alleged Cervantes raped an intoxicated woman after she crashed her car into a median and sought help, and sexually abused a teenage girl over a two-year period beginning in 2006.
Jurors acquitted Cervantes on the rape charge.
The defendant has prior convictions for robbery, drug possession and gun possession.
The defendant maintained his innocence Tuesday and quoted a passage from the Bible, prosecutors said.
“We were very satisfied with the decision,” Assistant District Attorney Suzanne Lavenue said.
“This will ensure that a dangerous predator such as Antonio Cervantes will stay off the streets for the rest of his life.”
