SPENCER — A husband and wife were assaulted Monday night at their home before three thieves stole jewelry and the couple's car, police said.
About 7:05 p.m., a black man and two white men approached a home in the 9700 block of NE 26, struck the man who lived there with a pistol and then robbed his wife at gunpoint inside the house, Spencer Police Chief Virgil Green said.
The men then fled in the couple's car.
