Man in Carter County custody dies day after arrest

ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a 44-year-old man who had been booked in the Carter County jail on a public intoxication complaint died one day after his arrest.

Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant says the man was booked at about 8 a.m.

Former gubernatorial aide accused of destroying evidence in upskirt photo investigation

Prosecutors on Tuesday charged a former executive aide to Gov. Mary Fallin with two criminal offenses stemming from allegations he took upskirt photos during a legislative meeting at the state Capitol.

Travis Goss Brauer, 29, is charged in Oklahoma County District Court with offering false or fraudulent evidence, a felony, and destruction of evidence, a misdemeanor.

State Sen. Bryce Marlatt resigns Tuesday, six days after being charged with sexual battery

State Sen. Bryce Marlatt resigned Tuesday, six days after being charged with sexual battery because of an Uber driver's complaint.

In his three-sentence resignation letter, Marlatt, R-Woodward, thanked his constituents but did not admit to any wrongdoing.

The resignation was effective immediately.

"My service on behalf of the people of Northwest and the Panhandle of Oklahoma has been the privilege of my career," Marlatt wrote in the letter delivered to Gov.

Berkeley Police Are Now Allowed to Use Pepper Spray Against Violent Protesters

(BERKELEY, Calif.) — The Berkeley City Council on Tuesday gave police permission to use pepper spray to repel demonstrators attacking officers and others during violent protests that have repeatedly hit the city this year during political protests.


The 6-3 vote by the council came ahead of another planned speech Thursday at the University of California, Berkeley.

Hurricane Irma: Prisoners still on the run after 100 escape

A number of prisoners are still on the run after more than 100 escaped when Hurricane Irma hit the British Virgin Islands.


Foreign Office minister Sir Alan Duncan said there was a "serious threat of the complete breakdown of law and order".


Police and troops have been sent to recapture the prisoners, the Foreign Office said, but some remain at large.

Police searching for men in fight that injured bystander in northwest Oklahoma City

Police are looking for the four men involved in a shooting Monday that injured a 72-year-old bystander.

Surveillance photos of the men have been released.

The woman, Glenna Jean Mills, was hit by a stray bullet while driving near the 7-Eleven store at 2912 NW 122 near N May Avenue where a fight took place, officer Megan Morgan said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injury, Morgan said.

Tulsa police arrested the man who allegedly shot and killed a 20-year-old woman on a complaint of first-degree manslaughter, Tulsa Police Officer Jeanne MacKenzie said.


Police arrested Xavier Richard Dixon, 21, on the single complaint after interviewing him this morning.

A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting in Oklahoma City.

Kyriece Hardeman, 26, was booked into the Oklahoma County jail Tuesday morning on a complaint of assault with a deadly weapon.

About 12:15 a.m., officers responding to a shooting call found Christopher Britt, 31, wounded at the Garden Square Apartments, 7205 Melrose Lane, said Oklahoma City police officer Megan Morgan.

Indicted ex-senator sought sexual contact from young males through Craigslist, FBI says

The investigation of former state Sen. Ralph Shortey uncovered evidence he posted Craigslist ads several times "attempting to solicit young males for sexual contact," the FBI reports.

"Need a boy or bromance," he stated in two Craigslist ads, according to the FBI. "Looking for younger the better (legal) white or mixed.

A U.S. judge on Wednesday ordered Martin Shkreli to be jailed while he awaits sentencing for securities fraud, citing a Facebook post in which the former drug company executive offered a $5,000 reward for a strand of Hillary Clinton's hair.

Pet owners who abandoned their furry companions during Hurricane Irma could face criminal charges. 


“We will find you, and we will prosecute you,” said Dave Aronberg, the state prosecutor for Palm Beach County in Florida. 


Leaving a pet behind to fend for itself during a major storm “is a prime example of animal cruelty”, Mr Aronberg told the New York Post.

A little more than a month after his brother was arrested for trafficking marijuana, another man with the last name Weed was arrested Tuesday after police said they found a large amount of the drug in a car he was driving.

Officers had been monitoring a house in the 2900 block of Shirley Lane where they were tipped off about a possible drug delivery.

OSU student says angry driver held knife to his throat in Pawnee County

STILLWATER — An Oklahoma State University student who says an angry driver held a knife to his throat Sunday during a roadside fight in Pawnee County said Thursday he hopes a video of the attack leads to justice.

Camden Rader, 21, of Yukon, was with a group of OSU students who were riding motorcycles in Pawnee County about 5 miles southeast of Pawnee Sunday when a road rage incident turned violent.

“I just want people to pay for their actions,” Rader said.

Police: Kansas psychiatrist stabbed to death by his patient

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A psychiatrist was stabbed to death in an alley behind his holistic practice in Kansas and a man identified as one of his patients has been arrested in the killing, police said Thursday.

Achutha Reddy, 57, was killed in the attack Wednesday evening at the Holistic Psychiatry Services clinic in Wichita.
