WEWOKA — A woman arrested on an animal cruelty complaint after authorities found about two dozen dead horses on her property has a previous felony animal cruelty conviction involving a puppy mill, according to court records.
Carolyn Vaughn, 37, was arrested Friday after Seminole County sheriff's deputies got a tip that there were dead horses at her property near Wewoka.
Seminole County Chief Deputy Chris Conn said deputies found a horrifying scene with 20 to 30 horse carcasses piled up and dozens more of malnourished and neglected horses.
